POSITIVE LANGUAGE ATTITUDE OF GAYONESS PEOPLE TOWARD THEIR LANGUAGES.

A.    Definition of Language Attitude

Language attitude is the attitude of the person toward one’s own language or toward speaker of different languages. This attitude can be seen from his or her expression of positive or negative feeling toward the languages. This  attitude can also reflect in impressions linguistics difficulty or simplicity, the degree of important, elegans, and social status. The attitude toward a language may also show what people feel about the speakers of that language .

People have attitudes,feelings,beliefs about language in general, their languages, and the language of other people. They may feel that an unwritten language is not a 'real' language. They may feel shame when other people hear their language. They may believe that they can only know one language at a time. They may feel that the national language is the best language for expressing patriotism, the best way to get a job, the best chance at improving their children's future.

B.     Evidences of Positive Language Attitude  towards Gayoness Languages

          There are seven evidences of positive language attitude of Gayoness people toward their own languages .

The first evidence is the speaker love the language. This attitude is one evidence which show the people how the speaker attitude toward their own language or other language. The writer see how the Gayoness people love their language. They proud of their language. They always speak to each other in Gayoness. Not only that, Gayoness people also use the language in daily life, such us in their families,schools,markets,and when they meet each other.

The second evidence is they speak the language. As mention above, Gayoness people always speak in Gayoness language to each others. Even in campus,shcools,offices,they will communicate to their friends who is Gayoness people in their own language.

The third evidence is they want other people to learn or speak their language. Actually, not all people want their language to be learned by other people. Some of them feel shy if others people know their languages. They feel that their language is out of date and not popular as other languages, but it is not happen in Gayoness people. They proud of their language and they want others people speak their languages.

The fourth evidence is they want to be associated to the language. If the people love the language, they want to be associated to the language. They proud to the language,when the people talk about it or speak it. They will let everybody know about their language.

The next evidence is they ensure that their next generation is using the language. This evidence is the most important one because one language will be lost if the generation of the people who use the language do not use the language. Thus, to keep their own language, the Gayoness people teach their children thei language and make their children speak their language.

The other evidence is the people of Gayo love the person who speak their language.For one society, it is will be one of pride if tourist speak their language. It also happen to the Gayoness people. They love and threat well the people who want to speak their language.

The last evidence is they write in their language. Actually, not all of Gayoness people write in their language, but some of them use their language in writing, such as writing in facebook,twitter,blog,etc.

In conclusion, there are many evidence which we can see in daily life that Gayoness people have positive attitude toward their own language.

C.     The Factors of Positive Language Attitude of Gayoness People toward Their Language.

To have positive language toward one language, the people must be have reasons or some factors. There are some factors which make people of Gayo have positive language attitude toward their own language.

1.      Gayoness is their own language.

It is easy for people to love their own language,their own culture, and their own country. Even many people do not like their language, the society of that language will love their language too. For people of Gayo, language is one of culture branches,thus,they will never want their culture or language lost in the world. On other word, it is easy to have positive language attitude toward their own language because they had know the value and culture of Gayo.

2.      The speaker of Gayoness

Most of Gayoness speaker is people of Gayo. Therefore,it is not hard to be have positive language attitude toward their own language which is used by their families or their people.

3.      The Gayoness Culture

The culture influence the languge indirectly. However,the people will have good attitude toward one language ,if they know the culture of people who use the language. If the culture of the language is good and same with their culture, they will easy to have positive attitude toward the language. For Gayoness people, actually they do not have to learn about the culture of Gayo because they are borned and growth there. Therefore,it is easy for them to have good attitude toward their own language which they know the culture of the users.

4.      The social value of the language

For people of Gayo, speaking in their own language is the important one. They use ths language every day in communicating to each other. It have a social value. If they are can not speak in Gayoness and hate their own language, they could not communicate in the society.

5.      Particular uses of the language.

The environtment is one of factors that make people can speak other language and have good attitude toward one language. It is easy for people who live in one society which speak one language to have a good attitude toward it’s language,such as Gayoness people who live in the society which speak Gayoness.

D.    Conclusion

All people in the world can have positive or negative attitude toward their own languages. It depends on themself,but many people in the world will love their own languge and speak that language. Gayoness people is one of example which writer choose to write it. It is one of writer experiences when she face the people of Gayo, they always speak in their language. Therefore the writer ask her friends how can the people of Gayo confidently speak with their own language in others city. After doing little reasearch , the writer find that people of Gayo have very high appreciate to their culture and language. They love it much and they want their language will be used by their generations.
