Language Attitude of Aceh Youths toward Their language.
A group in a society
usually distinguishes it self by its language and its cultural norms and values
are transmitted through language. The identity and pride in a culture of a
group is expressed through its language. But it is not happen to Aceh youth,
most of them do not love their language. Why I can said like this, it because
most teenagers of Aceh do not speak Acehnese. They speak Indonesian to their
family, friends, teacher, etc. There are some reasons that make them do not
speak Acehnese. First, they feel embarest to speak Acehnese to their friends
because they feel that Acehnese language is dated. Next, some of children is
not speak Acehnese because their parents do not teach them their language since
they are baby. Many parents wish their children use the national language or
international language like English. They do not want their children speak the
local language. Therefore, the children can not speak their own language. The
environtment also influence the children attitude toward their own language. If
the children life in the environment which use the Acehnese language in daily,
they will use it too. On other hand if they life in the environment which do
not use the Acehnese language, they will not use that language. In conclusion, there
are three reasons that make Aceh youth
